It has not changed much from the early 1920s (the Dataran Merdeka is shown at the start).
The Merdeka Square is surrounded by many sites of historical significance, including the Royal Selangor Club Complex and the St Mary’s Anglican Cathedral. It was built in 1884 as a field extension of the Royal Selangor Club where wealthy British colonials would be able to enjoy cricket games while sitting in environments that remined them of the English countryside.
