Gombak in malay means a cluster of collection of something. There is a place in Singapore called Bukit Gombak (a collection of hills) and in Selangor Malaysia, Gombak district. It is slightly north of Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory. Located within Gombak is Batu Caves, a limestone hill with a series of caves. The Batu Caves take their name from the nearby Batu River.
Batu Caves is more popularly known as one of the most popular Hindu Shrines outside India.
Batu Caves is dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Murugan (also known as Kartikeya), the god of war.
Batu Caves is a hive of festivity on feast days of Lord Murugan, particularly during the Thaipusam festival.
