Johor Bahru has many good food surprises. You can check out the articles here, here and here.

So it didn’t take long to cross the causeway to get somemore food.

IT Roo Cafe (Jalan Dhoby)

They won the a statewide competition to be named the best Chicken Chop in town. The old 1950s stall front has been renovated with air-conditioning and is busy with locals and foreigners.

IT Roos Cafe 1The cost of the Chicken Chop is not something considered particularly cheap at over 10 ringgit. The Chicken Chop was prepared in the traditional Hainanese style. I personally found the chips (really nice fried potatoes) and simple coleslaw very tasty.

Chaiwalla & Co Container Cafe (Jalan Tan Hiok Nee)

Famous for their Thai Milk Tea, Chaiwalla Containter cafe is a rather good place to get a cooler (drink) especially in the mid day heat.
